Committee Member

Simon is a chartered engineer who, after 20 years serving as an officer in the Royal Engineers left the Army to manage teams on various major construction projects.

He moved to Cheriton Fitzpaine in 2023 with his wife Veronica and retired from his last role as a senior commissioning manager on the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station project at the end of April 2024.

As well as his experience of engineering and project management on large complex construction projects,

Simon has chaired a Village Hall committee while living in Wiltshire and at the same time sat on the main and finance committees of the village’s working men’s club. He secured funding for various improvement projects in the village hall and working with other members of the working men’s club committee, helped turn the club from a loss-making burden into a self-supporting organisation.

Simon and Veronica are enthusiastic supporters of community-led projects and are fully committed to contributing to the Community Shop’s success.
